Yes, it does. By default Matomo (Piwik) starts a new session / visit when a user is inactive for 30 minutes. When viewing a video or listening to audio, the session will be kept alive and extended every few seconds. This prevents the creation of multiple new visits when a visitor watches a video for a long time (longer than 30 minutes).
