As a Matomo Cloud Enterprise user, you can request to use a custom domain such as analytics.mysite.com instead of the default *.matomo.cloud address. This option is available as a paid add-on.

Setting up the custom domain requires coordination between your IT team and Matomo Support, as you will need to configure the DNS record before Matomo can enable the domain.

Using a custom domain

The steps below explain how to request and set up a custom domain for your Matomo instance.

1. Notify Matomo Support

Before making any DNS changes, get in touch with Matomo Support to let us know that you plan to configure a custom domain. We will confirm the correct CNAME target for your instance and provide any additional setup details.

2. Configure the CNAME record

Your IT team then creates a CNAME DNS record that points your chosen domain to your Matomo Cloud subdomain.

3. Contact Matomo Support to complete the setup

When the CNAME record is active, contact Matomo Support to complete the configuration. We will verify the DNS, and create and validate the SSL certificate (managed by Matomo through Let’s Encrypt).

4. Wait for activation

After validation, your custom domain will become active. If you are switching from an existing domain, expect some downtime (up to three days) while the DNS and SSL propagation completes. Once your custom domain is up and running, no further action is required from your side. Matomo will continue to manage your SSL certificate automatically, including renewals.

If you also need to add or rename a Matomo Cloud subdomain, see How to add an additional subdomain (alias) to your Matomo Cloud instance.
