Note: Superusers and users with the appropriate Tag Manager write and custom template capabilities can copy triggers.
- Open Matomo > Tag Manager.
- Navigate to Manage Containers and open the container that holds the trigger you want to copy.
- Go to Triggers and click the Copy icon next to the relevant trigger.
- By default, the trigger configuration will be duplicated to the same website and container as the original trigger.
- You can change this by selecting a different website and/or destination container.
- Click Copy to create the new trigger.
New Trigger Configuration
- If the trigger references variables, Matomo Tag Manager will attempt to reuse existing variables in the destination container.
- If no matching variables are found, the referenced variables will also be copied to the destination container.
Example:
- Copying a trigger within the same container will only duplicate the trigger.
- Copying it to a new or empty container will copy the trigger along with any required variables.
