When multiple users access or manage custom reports, it can be helpful to provide context about each report. Matomo displays an information icon next to a report’s title when a description has been added.

Users with write access can create or edit custom reports to add an information icon.

  1. Navigate to Matomo > Custom Reports > Manage Reports.
  2. Click Create New Report or select an existing report to edit.
  3. In the Description field, add concise text that explains the report’s purpose. If this field is left empty, no information icon will be shown next to the report title.
  4. Save the report and an information icon will appear next to the report title.
  5. Users can now click the icon to display the description.

Consistent descriptions across reports make it easier for others to understand report intent and avoid duplication – consider reviewing existing reports to ensure they include helpful context.
