There are three ways to install a Matomo Marketplace plugin:

  1. Using the Matomo Marketplace plugin (Recommended)
  2. Manual upload via WordPress Admin
  3. Manual installation via FTP/SSH

Our recommendation is to use the Matomo Marketplace plugin, which installs a compatible version with your Matomo for WordPress and notifies you of updates. With this plugin, updating a plugin is as straight forward as updating any other WordPress plugin.

Method 1: Using the Matomo Marketplace plugin

With the Matomo Marketplace for WordPress plugin, you can easily install and update plugins from our Marketplace. Simply download the Matomo Marketplace zip file here and follow these steps:

Once you have downloaded the zip file, complete this one-time setup process:

  1. Log into your WordPress Admin dashboard
  2. Go to Plugins
  3. Click Add New
  4. Click the Upload plugin button
  5. Select the downloaded zip file
  6. Click on Install Now
  7. Click on Activate Plugin

If you prefer to install the plugin manually, you can simply unzip the downloaded file and upload the plugin files into your wp-content/plugins directory.

It integrates seamlessly with your WordPress website’s Matomo Analytics Marketplace link and adds two new tabs:

  1. To install and update plugins from our Matomo Marketplace with ease.
  2. To configure the license key for any purchased any purchased Premium Features.

Step 2: Adding New Plugins from the Matomo Marketplace

Now that you have installed the Matomo Marketplace plugin, you can easily install any Matomo plugin from the Marketplace.

  1. Go the WordPress Admin dashboard
  2. Under Matomo Analytics click on Marketplace
  3. Select the Install plugins tab near the top
  4. Find the plugin you would like to install
  5. Click Install below the plugin name
  6. Activate the plugin

Method 2: Manual upload via WordPress Admin

  1. Download a plugin from the Matomo Marketplace
  2. Log into your WordPress Admin dashboard
  3. Go to Plugins
  4. Click Add New
  5. Click the Upload plugin button
  6. Select the downloaded zip file
  7. Click on Install Now
  8. Click on Activate Plugin

Method 3: Manual installation via FTP/SSH

  1. Download any plugin from the Matomo Marketplace
  2. Extract the downloaded zip file.
  3. Upload it to your web server using an FTP application or using SSH into the wp-content/plugins directory.
