Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer

 

Introduction

We’re looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to work on our cloud hosted SaaS platform. We are the creators of Matomo, the leading open source web analytics solution that gives people full control of their data and built-in privacy. We have challenges to solve and need you!

We are fully remote and we collaborate online. We are a small, flexible team, and when you come onboard you will play an integral part in engineering. You’ll help us to make our products better and deliver a great experience to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

    • Build, manage and automate our SaaS web analytics platform on AWS.
    • Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of the platform.
    • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as code, monitoring and alerting systems.
    • Support software development, product and customer support teams to achieve business outcomes.
    • Take ownership of technical issues, and work with the team to resolve more advanced issues when necessary.
    • Respond to application and security incidents via a rotating On-Call schedule (two thirds of the time, including nights and weekends).

Minimum qualifications

    • 5+ years commercial experience working with the AWS cloud
    • Proficient with modern IaC tooling (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation, Pulumi)
    • Proficient in at least 1 popular scripting languages (e.g., Python, Typescript/Javascript)
    • Proficient in container technologies (e.g., Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes)
    • Proficient in Linux systems and shell scripting
    • Proficient in declarative modern CI/CD patterns (e.g., GitHub Action, Bitbucket Pipeline, GitLab CI/CD)
    • Proficient with modern software engineering workflows (e.g., Git, pull request, code review)
    • Understanding of network topologies, high availability principles
    • Understanding of monitoring concepts (e.g., metrics, dimensions, log analysis)
    • Strong analytical skills and a passion for it to understand complex business logic
    • Great communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Willing to provide on-call support

Nice to have

    • Working knowledge of PHP
    • MySQL server and SQL query optimisation

Location

    • 100% Remote work position (European candidates must be willing to work a minimum of 4 hours overlapping with New Zealand per week)
