The Matomo Acquisition Overview report shows you a summary of incoming traffic through different Channel Types. The report can reveal how traffic is distributed across the different acquisition channels, including:

  • Which channels contribute the most visits to your website or app.
  • How traffic changes over time for each acquisition channel.
  • Identify channels that are growing or declining.
  • The relative performance of different traffic sources.

Each channel type displays the number of visits, the percentage of total visits attributed to that channel, and a mini trend graph showing changes over the selected period.

View the Acquisition Overview

  1. From your Matomo dashboard, go to Acquisition > Overview.
  2. In the evolution graph, you can plot different metrics over time, such as visits, unique visitors, or actions.

  3. Metrics are also available to display traffic trends for individual acquisition channels, including AI assistants.
  4. In the example report above, search engines account for 55% of all visits, while AI assistants account for 12%. The report compares the contribution of different acquisition channels and identify which sources drive the most traffic.
