You can add annotations to any row evolution chart showing visits over time. For example, this includes the Overview within the Visitors section, as shown below, the Goals report, or many others. You can create and edit annotations by following the steps below.

How to create annotations

  1. Navigate to a page containing a row revolution graph and click the annotations icon Annotation Icon.

  2. Annotations for the selected date range are displayed. Click the icon to view the note summary.

  3. Click Create a new annotation… to add a new note to the graph.

  4. Enter a note and optionally change the date of the annotation.

  5. Click Save to add the new annotation.

How to edit and delete annotations

If you’ve made a mistake or your annotations are no longer relevant, it is easy to edit or delete them by following the steps below. Please note, that you must be logged in and have the permissions to do this. If you do not see an edit icon as discussed below, then you do not have the appropriate permissions.

  1. Click the annotations icon Annotation Icon to expand the annotations within your selected date range.

  2. Click on the edit icon Edit Icon next to the annotation you’d like to edit.

  3. Update the date and label and date as appropriate by clicking in the relevant section.

  4. Click Save to confirm your edits.

How to delete annotations

  1. Click the annotations icon Annotation Icon to expand the annotations within your selected date range.

  2. Click on the edit icon Edit Icon next to the annotation you’d like to delete.

  3. Click on the delete icon Delete Icon to delete the annotation and it will be deleted immediately.

Highlight important annotations

When you add an annotation for a date, a small grey icon Annotation Icon is shown below the row evolution chart. It can be useful to highlight important annotation by clicking the star icon Star Icon.

By starring an annotation, it is highlighted with a gold star Gold Star Icon in the list of annotations and also makes it stand out in the chart view with a green highlighted annotation icon Annotation Icon.
