How to enable Dark mode in Matomo

Matomo 5.10.0 introduced a Dark mode setting that changes the appearance of your Matomo interface. You can switch between the Light (default) or Dark theme, or automatically match your browser.

Some White Label customisations and custom themes may require updates to colours or CSS class names to fully support Dark mode.

Set your preferred Matomo theme

  1. In Matomo, go to Administration > Personal > Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Theme section and select one of the following options:
    • Light: Use the default light interface.
    • Dark: Use the dark mode interface.
    • Match browser: Automatically uses your browser’s light or dark theme.

  3. Click Save to apply the change immediately.
  4. Like all other Personal settings, the Dark mode preference only applies to your own Matomo user account.
